The Middle East Duty Free Association (MEDFA) held its Annual General Meeting on Monday, April 11, 2011 in Dubai at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.

The meeting led by MEDFA President and CEO of Chalhoub Group, Mr. Anthony Chalhoub, focused on MEDFA financials, and the election of the new MEDFA committee to serve for the term starting from April 2011 to April 2013.

The nominated members selected to form MEDFA board are:
Dubai Duty Free – Mr. Sean Staunton

Emirates Airline – Mr. John Sime

Qatar Duty Free Company – Mr. Keith Hunter

DUFRY Sharjah – Mr. Erik Van Der Veen

International Duty Free and Trading Agencies – Mr. Sherif Toulan

Tourvest Duty Free – Mr. Selwyn Grimsley

ALDEASA Jordan Airport Duty Free Shops – Mr. Taleb Izmigna

Habchi & Chalhoub –  Mr. Anthony Chalhoub

AerRianta International Middle East  –  Mr. Philip Eckles

Tax Free World Association  –  Mr. Erik Juul-Mortensen

Mr. Taleb Izmigna from ALDEASA Jordan Airport Duty Free Shops Ltd has been appointed as Secretary General of the Association.

Following the AGM the designated board has nominated the committee officers as follows:
President – Mr. John Sime

Vice President –  Mr. Sean Staunton

Treasurer –  Mr. Erik Van Der Veen

Mr. Anthony Chalhoub expressed his thanks to the outgoing Board members for their support and contribution to making MEDFA as successful as it is today. He, as well, welcomed the new Board members and wished the new President Mr. John Sime and the officers elected the best of luck in running the Association.

Mr. John Sime stated: “My personal thanks go to Anthony for his stewardship of the board for the last few years he has done a remarkable job. Thanks also must go to the incoming board for electing me as President I thank them for the confidence that they have placed in me”
